Family

Note: Although this topic is the family, I felt that finding quotes on the home would go hand in hand with the family. The home is important to family life so I felt that finding quotes on both would be great to look at.

"Happiness in Family Life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities."   The Family: A Proclamation to the World (written by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)

"Our most important and powerful assignments are in the family. They are important because the family has the opportunity at the start of a child's life to put feet firmly on the path home." Henry B. Eyring Help Them on Their Way Home

"We need to greatly increase religious observance in the home. Weekly family home evening and daily family prayer and scripture study are essential. We need to introduce into our homes content that is 'virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy.' If we make of our homes holy places that shelter us from evil, we will be protected from the adverse consequences that the scriptures have foretold." Quentin L. Cook Let There Be Light!

"In an eternal sense, salvation is a family affair. God holds parents responsible for their stewardship in rearing their family. It is a most sacred responsibility." Ezra Taft Benson Salvation-A Family Affair

"May your homes be filled with love and courtesy and with the Spirit of the Lord. Love your families. If disagreements or contentions among you, I urge to settle them now." Thomas S. Monson As We Close This Conference

"We need to make our homes a place of refuge from the storm, which is increasing in intensity all about us. Even if the smallest of openings are left unattended, negative influences can penetrate the very walls of our homes." L. Tom Perry The Importance of Family

"If we will hold fast to the Church's proclamation on the family, we will see that we hold the jewels, as it will, that can enrich so many other things. Let the world go its own way on the family. It appears to be determined to do that. But we do not have that option. Our doctrines and teachings on the family are very, very powerful, and they are full of implications for all the people on this planet." Neal A. Maxwell Insights from My Life

"With the Lord, families are essential. He created the earth that we could gain physical bodies and form families. He established His Church to exalt families. He provides temples so that families can be together forever." Russell M. Nelson Set in Order Thy House

“We can begin to become more diligent and concerned at home by telling the people we love that we love them. Such expressions do not need to be flowery or lengthy. We simply should sincerely and frequently express love.” David A. Bednar More Diligent and Concerned at Home

"When the seas of life are stormy, a wise mariner seeks a port of peace. The family, as we have traditionally known it, is such a refuge of safety. 'The home is the basis of a righteous life and no other instrumentality can take its place or fulfil its essential functions'" Thomas S. Monson Dedication Day

Families are an essential part of our Heavenly Father's plan for us. We have all been blessed with a family that we can be with for eternally if we choose to be worthy to make covenants with them. Everything the Lord does is to help us return to Him and a large part of that is our families. He has given us our families to help us uplift and support each other. It is our obligation to work together with our families to keep worldly influences out of our home. I am grateful that I have been blessed with the family I have and that I am able to be with them forever. I know that the Lord has blessed me with my family so that they can be examples to me in my life and I can try and be an example to them as well.
