"A loving Father in Heaven has sent his sons and daughters here to mortality to gain experience and to be tested. He has provided the way back to him and has given us enough spiritual light to see our way. The priesthood of God gives light to his children in this dark and troubled world. Through priesthood power, we can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost to lead us to truth, testimony, and revelation. This gift is available on an equal basis to men, women, and children. Through the blessings of the priesthood, we can be equipped with 'the whole armour of God, that [we] may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil' (see Eph. 6:11–18). This protection is available to every one of us." Robert D. Hales Blessings of the Priesthood
"No matter what your responsibilities or circumstances may be, you and I know there is always a special joy that comes from dedicated priesthood service." Dieter F. Uchtdorf The Joy of the Priesthood
"The priesthood is the authority of God delegated to men on the earth to act in all things for the salvation of mankind. Priesthood is the means whereby the Lord acts through men to save souls. One of the defining features of the Church of Jesus Christ, both anciently and today, is His authority. There can be no true Church without divine authority." David A. Bednar The Powers of Heaven
"The Church and the world and women are crying for men, men who are developing their capacity and talents, who are willing to work and make sacrifices, who will help others achieve happiness and salvation...As men of the priesthood, we have an essential role to play in society, at home, and in the Church. But we must be men that women can trust, that children can trust, and that God can trust." D. Todd Christofferson Brethren, We Have Work To Do
"How blessed we are to be here in these last days, when the priesthood of God is upon the earth. How privileged we are to bear that priesthood. The priesthood is not so much a gift as it is a commission to serve, a privilege to lift, and an opportunity to bless the lives of others." Thomas S. Monson Willing and Worthy to Serve
"I do not believe in any kind of tyranny. I believe in long-suffering, in mercy, in kindness, in gentleness, and in the love and fear of God. I do not believe that the Priesthood was given to man to exercise dominion and authority over the souls of other men. Everything ought to be done with kindness and long-suffering, yet with fidelity to God." John Taylor The Responsibilities and Order of the Priesthood
"Why is the power to act in the name of God so important? Why is it important that bearers of the priesthood prepare to serve with power? Because the priesthood is of eternal significance. The priesthood benefits every man, woman, and child who now lives, who has lived, and who yet will live upon the earth. Those who hold the priesthood need to prepare in order to make the blessings of priesthood power readily available to all of God's children. Those who hold priesthood keys need to understand how to use those keys wisely and righteously." Russell M. Nelson Keys of the Priesthood
"The priesthood of God, with its keys, its ordinances, its divine origin and ability to bind in heaven what is bound on earth, is as indispensable to the true Church of God as it is unique to it and . . . without it there would be no Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." Jeffrey R. Holland Our Most Distinguishing Feature
"The priesthood is here. It has been conferred upon us. We act in that authority. We speak as sons of God in the name of Jesus Christ and as holders of this divinely given endowment. We know, for we have seen, the power of this priesthood. We have seen the sick healed, the lame made to walk, and the coming of light and knowledge and understanding to those who have been in darkness.
"Paul wrote concerning the priesthood: 'No man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.' (Heb. 5:4.) We have not acquired it through purchase or bargain. The Lord has given it to men who are considered worthy to receive it, regardless of station in life, the color of their skin, or the nation in which they live. It is the power and the authority to govern in the affairs of the kingdom of God. It is given only by ordination by the laying on of hands by those in authority to do so. The qualification for eligibility is obedience to the commandments of God.
"There is no power on the earth like it. Its authority extends beyond life, through the veil of death, to the eternities ahead. It is everlasting in its consequences." Gordon B. Hinckley The Cornerstones of our Faith
"The Priesthood . . . is a perfect order and system of government, and this alone can deliver the human family from all the evils which now afflict its members, and insure them happiness and felicity hereafter." Brigham Young The Gospel Defined
As a woman in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I believe that having an understanding of the priesthood power of God is essential. Although the priesthood is only held by worthy men, the blessings of the priesthood are available for all who seek it. The priesthood on the earth today, is the exact same priesthood that Jesus Christ held when He was upon the earth. It is truly a miracle when you think about the power of God is on the earth to bless and strengthen us. I know that I can receive all of the blessings of this power if I am worthy and ready to receive it. I am thankful that I can see the blessings of the priesthood in my life and that I am surrounded by worthy priesthood holders who can use the priesthood power of the Lord. I know that this is Jesus Christ's priesthood on the earth again and that miracles still happen through the priesthood power by our faith, fasting, and prayers.
