Prayer

"Not a day has gone by that I have not communicated with my Father in Heaven through prayer. It is a relationship I cherish-one I would literally be lost without. If you do not now have such a relationship with your Father in Heaven, I urge you to work toward that goal. As you do so. you will be entitled to His inspiration and guidance in your life." Thomas S. Monson Stand in Holy Places

"He [the Lord] will always hear your prayers and will invariably answer them. However, His answers will seldom come while you are on your knees praying, even when you may plead for an immediate response. Rather, He will prompt you in quiet moments when the Spirit can most effectively touch your mind and heart. Hence, you should find periods of quiet time to recognize when you are being instructed and strengthened." Richard G. Scott Using the Supernal Gift of Prayer

"Access to our Creator through our Savior is surely one of the great privileges and blessings of our lives. I have learned from countless personal experiences that great is the power of prayer. No earthly authority can separate us from direct access to our Creator. There can never be a mechanical or electronic failure when we pray. There is no limit on the number of times or how long we can pray each day. There is no quota of how many needs we wish to pray for in each prayer. We do not need to go through secretaries or make an appointment to reach the throng of grace. He is reachable at any time and any place." James E. Faust The Lifeline of Prayer

"Recognize that there is a power greater than ours, that no matter how good a man is, he is not good enough, that no matter how wise he is, he is not wise enough, that no matter how strong he is, he is not strong enough for all of the things which he will face in life, and that there is a source of power to which he can go with the assurance that he will be listened to and that there will be a response." Gordon B. Hinckley The Message: Gifts to Bring Home from the Mission Field

"Persist in prayer for the Holy Ghost to reveal to you the nature of God the Father and His Beloved Son. Plead that the Spirit will show you what the Lord wants you to do. Plan to do it. Promise Him to obey. Act with determination until you have done what He asked. And then pray to give thanks for the opportunity to serve and to know what you might do next." Henry B. Eyring Act in All Diligence

"Learn to pray. Pray often. Pray in your mind, in your heart. Pray on your knees. Prayer is your personal key to heaven. The lock is on your side of the veil. And I have learned to conclude all my prayers with 'Thy will be done' (Matthew 6:10; see also Luke 11:2; 3 Nephi 13:10)." Boyd K. Packer Prayer and Promptings

"Prayer becomes more meaningful as we counsel with the Lord in all our doing (see Alma 37:37)....We are promised that if we pray sincerely for that which is right and good and in accordance with God's will, we can be blessed, protected, and directed (see 3 Nephi 18:20; D&C 19:38)." David A. Bednar Pray Always

"While worldly manners of daily dress and speech are becoming more casual, we have been asked to protect the formal, proper language of prayer. In our prayers we use the respectful pronouns Thee, Thou, Thy, and Thine instead of You, Your, and Yours. Doing so helps us to be humble. That can also enhance our prayers. Scripture so declares, 'Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers.'" Russell M. Nelson Lessons from the Lord's Prayers

"For what should we pray? We should pray about our work, against the power of our enemies and the devil, for our welfare and the welfare of those around us. We should counsel with the Lord regarding all our decisions and activities. (See Alma 37:36-37.) We should be grateful enough to give thanks for all we have. (See D&C 59:21.) We should confess His hand in all things." Ezra Taft Benson Pray Always

"The inhabitants of the earth do not realize the effect and benefit of prayer. The Lord hears and answer the prayers of men, women and children. Prayer has more power, and great deal, to bring down the blessings of God, than almost any other thing." Wilford Woodruff Praying to Receive the Blessings of Heaven

Prayer, the ability to communicate with our Heavenly Father, is something that I think that I frequently take for granted. It is something we do daily, so often, that I think I forgot how precious and special it is that I have a loving Heavenly Father who I can not only speak to, but will respond as well. Heavenly Father speaks to us all. He will answer our prayers through spiritual inspiration, revelation, or through the Holy Ghost. Heavenly Father needs us to pray to Him and communicate with Him. He wants to know what we are doing and He wants to hear from us. When we speak to Him, we will be able to draw closer to Him and to gain a stronger testimony. When we speak with our Heavenly Father, he will answer our prayers and help us on our mortal journey. I know that when I pray to my Father in Heaven that I receive answers to my prayers and feel the comfort of the Holy Ghost. The times when I am on my knees are when I feel the closest to my Father above. I know that when we get on our knees and pour out our soul to the Lord, our Father will help guide and direct us home to Him.
